About the event

Nothing  quite compares to the feeling of pulling up your first carrot or  tasting a pea fresh from the pod. This awe and wonder is hard to  replicate in the classroom.  That’s why we’ve designed The Edible Garden  – a fun, hands on course to help you garden and manage your growing  space throughout the seasons.

The course will cover the basics to  help you get children actively involved in growing their own food,  learning where food comes from and even tasting new fruit and veg they  may have never tried before.

Objectives of the course:

· Find out about soils and composts to get the best yields

· Discover ways to grow edible plants in different seasons

· Create a plan for year round growing and eating, from a delicious selection of plants

· Match common growing problems with pests and diseases

Skill level: Beginner

Suitable for all Key Stages

The  RHS Campaign for School Gardening works with thousands of schools and  groups every year, providing resources, guidance and training in order  to give young people more access to nature.

Find out more and join the Campaign free on the RHS Campaign for  School Gardening website. New members will receive a free welcome pack.
